A refreshing glass of Brown Sugar Lemonade, incorporating the rich, caramel-like flavors of brown sugar, making it a sweet and tangy drink that stands out in the realm of citrus beverages.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (approximately 4-6 lemons)
4 cups cold water
Ice, for serving
Lemon slices and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
While the syrup is cooling, squeeze the lemons to extract 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, straining out any seeds.
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled brown sugar syrup and the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir thoroughly.
Pour in the cold water, stirring well. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
Fill glasses with ice, pour the Brown Sugar Lemonade over the top, and garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
