A perfect blend of spices that brings the bold, zesty flavors of Cajun cuisine straight to your kitchen. This seasoning enhances the natural taste of beef and adds a delightful crust when cooked using the blackened method.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 tablespoons paprika (use smoked paprika for a richer flavor)
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on your heat preference)
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt are great options)
2 pounds of beef (your choice: steak, tenderloin, or burgers)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients: paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Stir well until the mixture is uniform.
Take your beef and pat it dry with paper towels.
Generously coat the beef with the Cajun Blackened Seasoning, rubbing it in well.
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Add the vegetable oil.
Carefully place the seasoned beef into the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
Once cooked to your preferred doneness, remove the beef from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Slice and serve your perfectly blackened beef, either on its own or as part of a delicious dish.
