Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a unique twist on traditional Irish flavors by making a Pull-Apart Shamrock. This festive St. Patrick's Day bread is not only visually captivating, shaped like a shamrock, but it’s also a delightful way to bring family and friends together.
Ingredients
Scale:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup buttermilk, warmed
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk together until well mixed.
In a separate bowl, mix the warmed buttermilk, melted butter, and egg until combined.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
Add the chopped parsley and chives to the dough, folding them in until evenly distributed.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1-2 minutes until smooth.
Divide the dough into small equal pieces, approximately the size of a golf ball.
Shape each piece into a ball and arrange them in the shape of a shamrock on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops of the dough balls with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
