Strawberry Compote is a delightful and versatile dish that captures the essence of summer in a jar. This sweet and tart concoction transforms fresh strawberries into a luscious sauce that can elevate a variety of dishes.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
1/2 cup sugar (adjust according to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir gently to combine the ingredients.
Cook the mixture for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the strawberries release their juices and the sugar dissolves completely.
Once the strawberries have softened, use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to mash some of the berries for a thicker consistency, if desired.
Remove the pan from heat and let the compote cool slightly.
Once cooled, transfer the compote to an airtight container and refrigerate.
