1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup (90g) dark chocolate, melted
1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
1/4 cup (30g) chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds) (optional)

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease an 8x8 inch (20x20cm) baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
In a separate large bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and melted dark chocolate.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently with a spatula until just combined.
If desired, fold in chocolate chips or chunks and nuts.
Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
