Indulging in a delightful Caramel Latte is one of life’s sweetest pleasures. This creamy coffee drink combines rich espresso with velvety steamed milk and a touch of homemade caramel sauce, creating a perfect balance of flavors that is both comforting and invigorating.
Steamed Milk: 8 ounces (whole milk or a milk alternative), heated
Homemade Caramel Sauce: 2 tablespoons
Whipped Cream: for topping (optional)
Ground Cinnamon or Cocoa Powder: for garnish (optional)
Homemade Caramel Sauce ingredients:
Sugar: 1 cup, granulated
Butter: 6 tablespoons (unsalted)
Heavy Cream: 1/2 cup
Salt: a pinch (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar melts and becomes a golden amber color, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the butter to the melted sugar, stirring until fully incorporated. Be careful, as the mixture will bubble up vigorously due to the butter's moisture.
Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring to combine. Cook the sauce for an additional minute until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Brew the Espresso: While the caramel cools, brew your espresso shots.
Steam the Milk: Using a milk frother, steam the milk until it reaches about 150°F (65°C) and has a velvety texture.
Assemble the Latte: In a large mug, combine the hot espresso with the caramel sauce, stirring to mix. Pour the steamed milk over the espresso mixture.
Top It Off: Spoon the foam on top and add whipped cream if desired. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce and sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder.
