½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Chocolate chips or nuts for mixing in (optional)
Frosting such as cream cheese or buttercream (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the egg, sour cream, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers remain soft.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
